Celebrate the Small Victories

Too often in this crazy thing called life we constantly are trying to catch up up on never ending projects, worrying about things that we shouldn't be and of course trying to keep up with the Jone's. No matter what it may be, it just seems like we can never get ahead and are stressing about what is next. We need to learn to appreciate the small victories in our lives. Take a step back from the bigger picture and appreciate the little (yet, big) things that you have and have accomplished.  The victories are endless - happy to have lungs that allow you to easily breath, finishing cleaning out that dreaded closet or finally attempting that recipe you have been putting off for a while. No matter what, it is something you did! When we begin to appreciate the little things, it gives us the hope to get through those big things. Appreciate all that you got, everyday! :)

"Life is short but sweet for certain" 4/5/08

Sorry I missed last week and am a day late today. I just got home from Ireland yesterday (will write about that in the very new future!)

Three years ago today was a day that changed my life forever - Dad passed away. It seems like just yesterday he was yelling at me during a basketball game or we were watching Cardinal baseball and catching up.  I thought maybe time would help heal the pain, but I think as more time passes, it becomes more real that he will never see all the milestones in my life....marriage, children, etc. Life can come and go in the blink of an eye so always cherish the moments you have with those you love, especially your parents. Take time to visit, call and catch up because they will not always be around forever.

I miss my Dad every single day and still when I call or come home I think he is going to be there sitting at his usual spot at the table. I know he is watching down on all of us though and there is comfort in that. So today, I raise a glass (PBR was his preference) and toast to a great life of an awesome Dad, husband, uncle, brother and friend. We sure do miss you.... Everyday.
